A photographic presentation drawn from the work of a legendary Waterton guide and outfitter. Please join us for an historic photographic presentation based on the book Bert Riggall’s Greater Waterton: A Conservation Legacy.
Bert Riggall was a legendary guide and outfitter in the Waterton Lakes region of the Canadian Rockies in the early 1900s. An outstanding photographer, Riggall captured the magnificent scenery as he traversed the wild country with his clients.
The photographs he produced fueled an emerging tourism industry and helped set in motion the conservation of the Greater Waterton region. Today his photographs are considered of “outstanding national importance” by the Canadian Cultural Property Board, which calls his panoramas above timberline especially significant.
The book – a collection of Riggall’s images with text by an impressive ensemble of Alberta writers – will be available for sale at this presentation.
